What are Vitamins, why should we have Vitamins? Vitamins are not same for all organisms. Sometimes the compound is a vitamin for human but not for animals. Many animals can produce vitamins that are necessary for them but humans cannot do that. Vitamins are very much required for every organism. It is an organic compound. An organic compound is a vitamin when it cannot be synthesised. Vitamins are classified by biological and chemical activity but not by structure.
Vitamin A:
Fat and Water Soluble Vitamins:
Fat soluble vitamins are stored in fat tissues of our body. Water soluble vitamins cannot be stored in body for long time.
- Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble.
- Vitamins C and B are water soluble.
